Kashthamandap reconstruction sees 50 percent progress

Kathmandu, Sept 16 :Kashtamandap has seen fifty percent of its reconstruction progress. is noted that reconstruction will be completed in time if the works are carried out as planned. 


Rajesh Shakya, chairperson of Kashtamandap shared that under the reconstruction the four main wooden pillars has been erected and wall-rising between the pillars has also completed. 


Daily 30 workers are being mobilized to expedite the reconstruction works. The reconstruction was delayed for no availability of construction materials such as wood and brick in the beginning, he said, adding such problems would not emerge from now onward. 


The 2015 Earthquake had completely damaged the historical Kashtamandap of which establishment dates back to the 7th century. The reconstruction of the heritage was formally began on 8 November 2018. Its reconstruction has gained momentum with a target to complete the rebuild within three years. 


It may be noted that Kathmandu Metropolitan City has provided assistance of Rs 55 million for the reconstruction of the historical site. The reconstruction is estimated to be completed at the cost of Rs 190 million.
